We cannot make any progress without tackling the racism at the heart of English culture
English culture is heavily reliant on feelings of racial and national superiority - more so than almost any other national culture in history. Such is the intellectual and emotional inheritance of the British Empire - the largest empire in history; a political entity that could never have been maintained without the racist and xenophobic ideas spread by its ideologues. To think that these prejudices have simply disappeared in the last half-century or so is ridiculous. They still have a massive influence on the British (particularly English) psyche, and are the number one obstacle to the English working class making a useful contribution to the world. Surprising we don’t talk about that more.
